Schoenbrunn Healthcare
Archived News 2003
As we begin a new year in Tuscarawas County, it is important
to take a closer look at what our community has to offer.
And this look could not be complete without one our communities
most important resources, quality health care. From hospitals
and physicians to nursing and rehabilitation centers, Tuscarawas
county offers its residents a complete continuum of care.
When it comes to nursing and rehabilitation, Schoenbrunn Healthcare
Care Center strives to be at the top of the quality list.
2002 brought many new changes to Schoenbrunn Healthcare. Perhaps the
most noticeable has been the exterior renovation. The fresh
new look at Schoenbrunn Healthcare compliments the new ideas and improvements
that have taken place during the last year. In July 2002,
Schoenbrunn Healthcare welcomed a new administrator, Carl Holbrook,
into our community. Holbrook brings years of experience and
dedication to Nursing care as well as many new ideas to ensure
that Schoenbrunn Healthcare remains at the top when it comes to nursing
and rehabilitation in Tuscarawas County.
Among the new changes administered under Holbrook has been
dual certification under Medicare and Medicaid for all 166
patient care beds at Schoenbrunn Healthcare. This allows all residents,
short and long term, to remain in the same room and under
the supervision of the same caregivers throughout their stay
at Schoenbrunn Healthcare.
“Dual Certification gives our residents more consistency
and comfort in meeting their healthcare needs”, said
Holbrook. “Once our residents return from an outside
stay, they return to their own rooms with the same staff and
surroundings.”
This enables residents of Schoenbrunn Healthcare to feel more at home
during their stay. Another addition to improve patient care
has been the development of a separate activity staff and
calendar for the Alzheimer’s and Dementia wing. Residents
with these diseases need activities that fit their ability
level, physically as well as mentally. While many are still
able to participate in mainstream group activities, the special
services ensure they are meeting their own physical and mental
stimulation needs.
“Our residents come first at Schoenbrunn Healthcare, said Darla
Carlisle”, Activity Director. “We will do whatever
it takes to meet their needs on an individual and group level.”
2002 continued to bring to light the national nursing shortage.
Schoenbrunn Healthcare supported our local healthcare needs
with a donation in the amount of $10,000.00 dollars to the
new LPN program at Buckeye Career Center.
“We are always willing to help ensure that Tuscarawas
County has the caregivers it needs for the future”,
said Joel Sausen, owner of Schoenbrunn Healthcare. “Without quality
staff, we could not provide the best care for our residents.
The donation to Buckeye came without question. This is the
future of healthcare in Tuscarawas County, and I believe Schoenbrunn Healthcare
is at its forefront.”
As for the year ahead, Schoenbrunn Healthcare will continue to improve
its physical plant with renovations to resident shower rooms,
as well as many other interior and exterior improvements.
“You will just have to come and check it out for yourselves”,
said Cristin Connor, Marketing Director. “There is always
something great going on at Schoenbrunn Healthcare”.
Look for Connor and Sausen to appear throughout the community
on local billboards highlighting the services offered at Schoenbrunn Healthcare.
“This is our way of putting a face with the top name
in nursing and rehabilitation care in Tuscarawas County”,
said Connor. “You may not need our services today, but
when you do, you will know who to look for.”
Schoenbrunn Healthcare plans to highlight many staff members and residents
in upcoming marketing campaigns throughout the community.
You can also look for updates at Schoenbrunn Healthcare on the new website,
www.SchoenbrunnHealthcare.com, which has
allowed Schoenbrunn Healthcare to bring healthcare in Tuscarawas County
to a much larger market area.
With residents from throughout the Ohio and its surrounding
region, the new web site has been an important information center.
“2002 was a great year at Schoenbrunn Healthcare, and 2003 will
be even better”, said Holbrook. “Our philosophy
is simple, residents come first at Schoenbrunn Healthcare. This philosophy
has enabled us to remain the largest and most highly skilled
nursing and rehabilitation center in Tuscarawas County, and
we intend to stay that way.”
