Schoenbrunn Healthcare Center is now one of the most technologically
advanced Nursing Facilities in the State of Ohio. The facility,
which includes a subacute unit, is as technologically advanced
as some of the intensive care units in hospitals.
Advanced features on the unit include in wall oxygen and
suction enclosed in a Hill-Rom designed headwall unit, new
electric Hill-Rom beds and communications call light system.
Hill-Rom beds are used with many different patients needs
in mind. All of the beds can be raised or lowered by patient
controls along with having the ability to turn the lights
on and off from the bed controls. Telephones can be attached
directly to the bed side rail making most patient needs
accessible from their beds.
Two total care beds also enable the staff to care for patients
who need special sleep surfaces to heal pressure ulcers
and weigh the patient. The beds can be lengthened or shortened
to accommodate patients height. An additional feature was
the addition of the EnhanceMate, a voice activated bed control
system. The EnhanceMate Voice Activated Control System is
a unique innovation which enables disabled and immobilized
patients to operate bed and room functions through their
verbal commands. Through voice recognition, the system enables
the patient to control nurse call, lighting, TV/Radio, telephone
and bed functions.
The Composer System is an exclusive communication and information
management system designed to enhance the quality of care
provided to patients. The system can save time and effort
by facilitating communications among staff room to room
and provide information on the current status of patients
within the unit. The Composer System will enable the staff
assigned to a particular resident to be notified when their
call light is activated. The staff member can communicate
to that patient from their current location, access their
needs and communicate back to that patient hands-free.
The Composer System can be integrated with the Hill-Rom
beds to provide information at the nurses station including
the side rail position, bed height, brake status and how
long the call light was initiated and who answered it. All
of these features aide in caring for the patients on the
sub-acute unit. The Composer Communication System is the
first to be used in a nursing facility in Ohio.
